A New Year… Cautious plans…

Here we are in 2021… Here’s wishing everyone a happier New Year, and grateful thanks to everyone who has supported Jez through the last nine months with their generosity and encouragement…

As Jez announced at the end of his Christmas on-line concert last week, he’s planning another special show through his Facebook page, scheduled for January 31st at 8pm UK time, showcasing his 1994 album “Bede Weeps”, one of the most successful collection of songs in his entire career – we’re talking LAST OF THE WIDOWS, GREEK LIGHTNING, DOVER DELAWARE, THESE COAL TOWN DAYS, and our own personal favourite, JUST LIKE MOSES, along with many more – and Jez will be performing them all, the entire album in fact, solo with background to the writing of the songs and the recording of the album. It should be quite a special concert, and will once again be “free to view” through Facebook, with an optional “Pay What You Feel” contribution.

The album “Bede Weeps” itself is now available once again as part of “The Fellside Collection” after being out of print for many years – it’s available from the SHOP page on this website along with all of Jez’s current CDs and books. Please note that the Christmas sale has come to an end, but the new prices have been held at a bargain cost, and the “bundle” offers of CDs and books together are also less than what they were.

Jez’s Christmas concert on December 27th was a bit hit with everyone who tuned in, especially as many of the songs were unavailable on CD and new to many listeners, though had all featured in Jez’s past Christmas shows with The Bad Pennies. Set list was as follows – WORKHOUSE (a seasonal rewrite of the 1996 song from the “Tenterhooks” album), CHRISTMAS LIST, CAULD FEET AGAIN PET, FANCY GOODS ( a very rare outing for the 2002 song from the “Honesty Box” album), THE ELVES HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING, I WANT TO BE ALONE (the unrecorded song about Brexit, written in 2018 for an American tour and briefly revived earlier last month at another on-line gig), then two more unreleased Christmas songs, SNOW DANCING and CHRISTMAS IN AUSTRALIA, followed by a rare song from the “Wotcheor!” album, GRAMOPHONE DANCING, then the elusive unreleased showstopper THE FROZEN ROMAN, with yet another unreleased song SNOWED IN as a finisher. It was clear from the audience comments that people were frustrated that so many of these songs were not available on CD or even download. This situation could be remedied in time for next year’s Christmas tour with The Bad Pennies, if it’s able to go ahead. Watch out for more news on that later in the year…
Meanwhile, stay safe and take care.
