SONY ACADEMY AWARD WINNING SONGWRITER FROM COUNTY DURHAM

Back in the UK – Tilson/Lowe tour…

Jez’s American tour has drawn to a close, and he’s now back in the UK, heading straight for the recording studio to wrap up the new album of traditional songs, which is still scheduled for an early December release. The new book, Jez’s first novel, is also due for publication then, and is certainly stirring up a lot of interest, especially during the US tour. Details of both aspects of this ambitious project are still pretty scarce, but we’re hoping for some sort of announcement in the next couple of weeks – Watch this space…

Meanwhile, Jez joins forces once again with Steve Tilston this month, with a series of village hall shows in the North of England, starting at Frosterley Village Hall in County Durham on October 27th. Meanwhile, there’s an extra gig, touted as a “preview show” for the new quartet, The Tilston Lowe Sometimers, featuring Hugh Bradley on bass and Chris Parkinson on keyboards. The official debut of the band is at Cecil Sharp House in London on November 8th, but they’ll be doing a “warm-up” gig the night before at The Kitchen Garden Cafe in Birmingham, that is Tuesday November 7th.

Tickets for The Bad Pennies’ Christmas tour are already selling fast, we hear. The North East gigs, at Cramlington and Gateshead’s Sage, both usually sell out quickly, so act fast on those shows. They’re both a different format show compared to the rest of the tour, with special elements that aren’t included at other gigs. Those of you who have attended these shows in past years will know to what we’re referring!

A quick summary of songs that Jez played on the American trip, gleaned from three set-lists sent in along the way, for which many thanks. Regular highlights at these American gigs included FAN DANCER’S DAUGHTER, AUSTERITY ALPHABET, DOVER DELAWARE and somewhat surprisingly, THE ELVES HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING from the Christmas album! Other songs that popped up were ALOYSIUS, COAL MOUNTAIN, NAMES, WAGGA MOON, and a couple of new ones, TIME AND CASH and a traditional song, possibly from the new album, called MARKET DAY, though we could be wrong about both of these titles. Hopefully, we’ll know soon enough.
