Bad Pennies take to the road!
June 5, 2012
Jez and the band hit the road this week at the start of a busy month of UK gigs. They’re at Halifax on Thursday, Wimbourne Festival on Saturday and Folk on The Coast on The Wirrall on Sunday. Jez is solo at Stoney Stratford on Friday. On Tuesday there’s a very special show at Doncaster Civic Theatre featuring songs from the Radio Ballads – The Muse MacColl is the name of the show – with a lot of new songs and archive video backdrop. This occassional show is developing all the time, and will be also featured at several UK festivals this summer. There’s talk of a much bigger version of it being the centre-piece of a full-scale tour next year… The band heads north to Scotland next Wednesday for gigs in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stonehaven… Jez is continuing his involvement in the new BBC Radio ballads series – there were recording sessions this week, with three more of his songs being taped, with backing from John McCusker and Andy Cutting. Jez also did backing vocals on a song by Julie Matthews. We hope to have a full list of titles of Jez’s contributions to the series before it starts on July 2nd.
