Book / Album news… Other stuff..
Release date for the new Jez Lowe book and CD “The Dillen Doll” is set for December 5th, and advance mail-order offers are being taken right now via the SHOP page on this website. There’s a special offer for anyone who wants to buy both the album and the novel. Jez and The Bad Pennies included their version of the traditional song DOL LI A (upon which the story of the novel is based) in their concert at Hitchin last weekend, but so far no other advance promo tracks have been released. Several radio slots are being lined up for early in the New Year for Jez to promote the project. Details to follow… Jez was back at Fellside Records in Cumbria earlier this week, to record a track for their forthcoming celebration CD which will feature many of the artists who have recorded with the label over their long and illustrious existence. Jez recorded SEVEN albums for them between 1980 and 1993. The track he has contributed to this new compilation is called TOWN TALES, and was written in 2013 for the Badapple Theatre production “The Carlton Colliers”. Jez also contributed to other “ensemble” tracks to be featured on the forthcoming album… The Bad Pennies are currently rehearsing for their upcoming Christmas show “Yule Do!” and many of the dates are already sold out – see the GIGS page on this site. Extra seats are being released for both of the shows at Gateshead’s Sage on November 29th… The latest BBC Radio Ballads programme “The Ballad of 1917” is still available on the BBC I-player. Two of Jez’s songs are featured – he sings THE NICK OF TIME and his song THE TOWN HALL YARD (from his album “The Ballad Beyond”) is sung by Olivia Chaney. Last year’s programme, “The Ballad of 1916” recently won a “Highly Commended” place in the Association of International Broadcasting Awards, by the way. Prestigious stuff!
