HEADS UP

A collection of songs by North East England-based songwriter Jez Lowe, who has been at the forefront of the UK folk and acoustic scene for the last thirty years, with around FIFTEEN albums to his credit, and touring around the world almost constantly – sometimes solo, sometimes with his band The Bad Pennies.

Jez’s songwriting credentials speak for themselves. He is among the most “covered” writers on the scene, and his on-going involvement in the award-winning BBC series The Radio Ballads, is only one of several outstanding projects in which he’s been invited to participate in recent years. He was Songwriter in Residence for many years in his native County Durham and is also musical director of Badapple Theatre, one of the UK’s most popular touring companies.

This collection of tracks features some of his most popular songs, including some that haven’t been available on record for some time, plus some newly recorded numbers and recent additions to his ever-expanding repertoire.

Among those who have recorded versions of these songs (and others) in the past are –
Fairport Convention, The Dubliners, Cherish The Ladies, The Unthanks, The Duhks, The Tannahill Weavers, Bob Fox, Tom McConville, Cindy Mangsen, The McCalmans, The Clancys, James Keelaghan, Iain MacIntosh, The Black Family, Margaret Walters, Enda Kenny, Isambard, Marie DuFresne, Drones and Bellows etc. etc.

Jez is represented by Oscar Music (www.oscarmusic.co.uk) in the UK, by Wooden Ship Productions in the USA (www.woodenshipproductions.com).

Compiled and mastered by David De La Haye at Anomaly Studio, Wallsend, UK

Cover design by Penelope Page.
