Fellside 5 CD set due…Festival news… Keelowe Tour

The 5 CD box set of Jez Lowe’s early albums, released by Fellside Records between 1980 and 1993, is due out this week. “The Jez Lowe Fellside Collection” features SIX albums on five discs, plus bonus tracks and rarities, in fact everything Jez has ever recorded for the label, all remastered, plus original artwork and a booklet with notes by producer Paul Adams. Fellside are in the process of winding down operations as a label, after almost forty five years, and have been talking about this release for the last few years. Copies are available to buy via the mail-order feature at the SHOP on this website… Meanwhile, Jez’s first gig of the year is tomorrow (Thursday January 9th) at the Foxlowe Arts Centre in Leek, Staffordshire. He has solo shows in the UK for the next couple of months, and then in March he’s off to Canada for a joint-tour with his long-time musical partner James Keelaghan. The pair have shows in Nova Scotia, Ontario and Edmonton, and will be reuniting in the summer for festival appearances in Canada, details of which will be announced by the festivals themselves in the near future… One festival that we can mention is the Mystic Seaport Festival in Connecticut USA in mid-June, which has just invited Jez to attend, and to feature a special presenttation of the BBC Radio Ballad, “The Ballad of the Big Ships” – Jez wrote several songs for this edition of the BBC series back in 2006, including TAKING ON MEN, BLACK TRADE  and MONKEY DUNG MAN,  a song he’s never released himself, but which was covered by The Unthanks on one of their albums a few years ago… Despite being overseas for most of the summer festival season, Jez will be at several UK festivals, including Saltburn, Whitby, South Downs (with Steve Tilston), Glenfarg and Shrewsbury.
