Jan 16th 2017 – News Round Up

Jez is currently on the road with The Pitmen Poets, and barely three shows into their mammoth UK tour. The itinerary this week takes them to Milton Keynes, Pocklington, Solihull, Doncaster, Leeds and Buxton. The show itself is different from the one that audiences saw this time last year, with new songs and images but with much the same degree of banter and interplay between the four singers.
Jez’s new song, COAL MOUNTAIN, has become a climax to the show, and one of several highlights. Reviews for both the concerts and the new album, “More Black Diamonds”, have been amazing. You can read an interview with Jez about the Pitmen Poets project at  . All four members of the quartet played live on BBC Radio Tees last week on the Bob Fischer afternoon show, talking about the tour and playing live versions of BLACK DIAMONDS, PIMEN POETS  and STANLEY MARKET. A CD track of Jez’s song HANDS FEET by The Young Uns was also featured on the show…

Jez joins Steve Tilston at Celtic Connections in Glasgow on Tuesday Jan 24th, where the duo will be opening for Fairport Convention at The Old Fruit Market. Both Jez and Steve are doing radio promotion spots for the new album “The Janus Game” over the next few weeks…

Looking ahead, Jez will be solo at this year’s first Costa Del Folk Festival in Ibiza on April 28th and 29th.
Other UK festivals this year include Ely, Warwick, Kimpton, Whickham, Saltburn, The White Horse Festival in Oxfordshire and The Moira Furnace Festival, and Jez and Steve will be back at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival on August 22nd, playing at the St Bride’s Music Centre.
