REGINA INSIDE

REGINA INSIDE
J.Lowe – Lowe Life Music – 2002

Regina saw first light to greet a coronation,
And so bears that name along with airs above her station,
Her young girl’s games were crowns and trains away behind her,
But now terraced walls not palace halls is where you’ll find her.

CHORUS
But Regina inside is so many long miles,
Away from the humdrum of grey northern skies,
From the cold face of commonplace she hides Regina inside.

A Queen came one day to walk these streets about us,
All dressed to kill against the chill and the drabness,
She floated along just like a ship in satin sails,
Regina just stared as if her eyes were telling tales.

A Queen walked where men once worked the very ground beneath her
Until scythes on high came down and cut them back like fever,
And there at that very spot where once they’d made their stand,
She climbed up to her black car and waved a careless hand.
