Recording for Jez’s upcoming album of traditional songs is continuing, and Jez previewed one song at Grove Festival last weekend, a jaunty number called “New Benwell Lass” (Benwell is a district of Newcastle). He also talked briefly about his upcoming novel at a workshop session, but true to form, gave little away. We do expect more news before he heads off to America on September 27th… Jez has more gigs with Steve Tilston coming up in the next few weeks, following their recent Edinburgh Fringe appearance, (see photo, taken backstage with Clive Gregson who was also at the same venue), beginning with a return to the Whitstable Sessions in Kent on September 3rd… Jez has more UK festivals coming up – at St Ives with Steve on September 14th, and solo at Otley on September 17th… Dates for the December Christmas tour with The Bad Pennies should be up on this website before the end of the week. The name of the tour this year is “Yule Do!” Benny Graham is special guest once again… There are rumours of a one-off Pitmen Poets show scheduled for next year. There’s a possibility of a special show by the quartet that will happen in March, somewhere in the Midlands of the UK. Previously it was believed that no further shows would be happening until at least 2019 due to other commitments by the members of the foursome… There’s an extra date added to Jez’s US tour, on October 5th in Massachusetts. It’s a house-concert, and contact details should be on the GIGS page of this site very soon.
