News Round Up

The Tilston Lowe Sometimes (Jez and Steve plus Chris Parkinson and Hugh Bradley) will be back in action at Hebden Bridge Trades Club on March 14th, and at a festival or two in the UK this summer (dates to be confirmed)… Jez and Steve are together at other festivals too, including Saltburn, Whitby, Sidmouth, Chester and Broadstairs, plus various other shows between now and then. Full details on the GIGS page of this site… Jez is teaming up again with Canadian songwriter James Keelaghan in October for a tour across North America and Canada. Full details of that trip will be released soon… Watch out for a special edition of BBC Radio 4 programme Open Country next month, that will be based around Jez’s novel THE DILLEN DOLL. It will be recorded on location at various places that are mentioned in the book. More details about that soon… Jez was on last Sunday’s BBC Radio Leeds Durbervilles Folk Show, during which he talked about THE DILLEN DOLL, read a passage from it and did live performances of three songs from the album – MARKET DAY, KEEL LAD and DOL LI A. He also mentioned that he’s currently writing ANOTHER book, but declined to give details. You can listen to the show here the next few weeks or so… That acapella  version of Jez singing THE MORPETH OLYMPICS was featured once again on last week’s BBC TV programme The Antiques Roadshow. The origins of the track are a bit mysterious. Jez’s version on “The Ballad Beyond” CD is with the full band, and Benny Graham sings it on the Morpeth Gathering Festival CD. Where the BBC got hold of this version is somewhat baffling… Two new cover-versions of THE BERGEN are due for release soon – one by American duo Meridian, and another by Polish band Vikina, the latter sung in Polish! Looking forward to both of those. (Pic by David Crickmore/BBC Radio Leeds)
