News Round-Up

Here’s a full set-list from last weekend’s Jez Lowe solo concert at The Davy Lamp in Washington, County Durham (location of the recording of Jez’s live double CD back in 2000 with The Bad Pennies). Set One – WILL OF THE PEOPLE, TAKING ON MEN, PITMEN POETS, BOTHER AT THE HOPPINS, GREEK LIGHTNING, WAGGA MOON, WEAVE AND WORRY, JACK COMMON’S ANTHEM. Set Two – TETHER’S END, EX-PITMEN’S POTHOLING PUB-QUIZ TEAM, JESSE OWENS’ SHOES, THE WRONG BUS, YANKEE BOOTS, HAD AWAY GAN ON, THE FROZEN ROMAN, PROPPING UP WALLS. Encore – HANDS FEET… Jez has more solo gigs coming up in the week ahead, at Bridlington tomorrow and next week at Croydon and Westcliffe On Sea in Essex… Bad Pennies occasional guest fiddler and Mile Roses member Kari MacLeod is working on the cover art for Jez’s upcoming second novel. She did the painting used for his debut novel, “The Dillen Doll” in 2017. She’s sworn to secrecy regarding the details of the new one!… Speaking of The Mile Roses, they’re currently recording a new album, produced by David De La Haye and with Andy May guesting on keyboards. It should be out before the summer… Jez and Steve Tilston are booked again, for the fourth year in succession at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The date is August 21st, and the venue is the Centre for Acoustic Music as usual… No more news on Jez’s involvement in the National Theatre, as mentioned here recently, other than he will definitely be back in London for two weeks in May for further work on the project. Watch this space for more news… (Pic by Sean Taylor at The Davy Lamp last weekend)
