SONY ACADEMY AWARD WINNING SONGWRITER FROM COUNTY DURHAM

News round-up.

Jez’s Christmas gig is now no longer available for viewing on Facebook, and so far it hasn’t been uploaded on to his You Tube channel. All his previous Facebook concerts appeared on You Tube within days of them happening, so it looks doubtful that the Christmas one is destined to join them. This is probably due to the number of unreleased songs that were included in the show. As we mentioned last time, there’s every indication that a new Christmas CD would be possible, if next year’s Bad Pennies Christmas tour actually goes ahead. A lot could happen in the meantime of course…
Meanwhile, Jez’s new CD “Crazy Pagan” is still getting a lot of airplay around the world, and sales have been fantastic, considering that the album has only been available by mail-order, and not at Jez’s live shows as would usually be the case.  Top tracks for airplay have been LOUISA’S CHOOSING, SHAKING MONTY, and inevitably, TALK TO ME DIRTY IN GEORDIE, but every track on the album has been played at least once on the air, according to the DJ List that keeps track of such things…
We hear that during one of his Zoom gigs, Jez let slip the title of his next novel, though it seemingly slipped past everyone without them realising it. He also apparently hinted that Evan Piper, the “hero” of his last novel “The Corly Croons”, will appear in the next one as well. When the new novel will be published is not known…
Jez has a few gigs in the pipeline – he’s doing a Zoom gig for The Cutty Wren folk Club on January 29th, and then there’s the much-anticipated Facebook concert on January 31st when he’ll be playing the “Bede Weeps” album in its entirety. After that there are plans for a special Facebook gig based upon the music and stories of his two novels, with live performances of songs from “The Dillen Doll” album as well as other songs, plus some readings from the books themselves. More details of that nearer to the time…
Please see the SHOP page of this website, where the prices of most of Jez’s albums and books have been reduced for the duration of the current lock-down situation in the UK. There’s also one or two additional items that have just been added, including a limited number of the “Darwin Project” CD featuring an all-star cast recorded live at Shrewsbury Theatre in 2009. Jez contributes to a number of songs that appear on this CD, including WE’LL HUNT HIM DOWN and JEMMY BUTTON, and is listed as co-writer on several more…
