News round-up… mid April…

As we mentioned last time, Jez’s half-hour on-line gig for the Glenfarg Folk Feast last weekend has now been made public via Facebook… The on-line concert schedule is somewhat crowded at the moment, but we can expect another set from Jez sometime next week (requests welcome, but not guaranteed!), and is likely to include a few new songs from the (as yet unrecorded) new album… Excellent, if brief review of Jez second novel “The Corly Croons” in the Edinburgh press last week. The third chapter of his first book, “The Dillen Doll” is now available to hear on You Tube, read by Jez himself… Watch out for more specially-priced offers for Jez’s books and CDs via this website later this week. The “Duo Bundle” featuring three CDs (with Jake Walton, Steve Tilston and James Keelaghan respectively) is still the most popular and is still available… Sobering news – Jez has lost FORTY TWO gigs (between March and September) in the present situation. Hopefully most of them will eventually be rescheduled… There are still some gigs set to go ahead at this point, starting in September, but due to the uncertainty of things, we have not yet listed them on the GIGS page. All of this summer’s festivals are now OFF, including Jez’s appearances at Winnipeg and Mariposa in Canada… There’s not been much from Jez on Facebook in recent weeks, but he’s still doing a daily “tweet” (@LoweJez is his Twitter name, by the way). However, a clip of his 1993 song THE BULLDOG BREED (from the “Bede Weeps” CD, and included on the recent Fellside Collection boxset) is proving to be very popular after it was uploaded by a fan at the end of last week. It’s somewhat pertinent, if not prophetic… Sorry to hear about the passing of radio DJ Gene Shay in Philadelphia. Gene was a big champion of Jez’s work and their friendship went back to the early 1990s. Jez played live on Gene’s radio show several times… Badapple Theatre has a Podcast version of their production “Back to the Land Girls” currently being made available with songs by Jez.
