SONY ACADEMY AWARD WINNING SONGWRITER FROM COUNTY DURHAM

– Jez started his long run of UK solo gigs last night at Penecuik near Edinburgh, and continues from tomorrow with concerts in Bradford, Stoke, Newbiggin and Bridlington… Meanwhile he will be appearing at Calgary Festival in Canada in July, playing solo for the first time, having appeared there with The Bad Pennies on three previous occassions… Jez’s upcoming one-man show based on his songs for the BBC Radio Ballads is being promoted under the banner The Muse MacColl, in homage to the originator of the original Radio Ballads series, Ewan MacColl. There are several UK club appearances for the show starting next month, and then he’ll be featuring it, along with guest performers, at Old Songs Festival in Albany NY in late June… Another cover version is about to come out, by American group Four Shillings Short, a version of A SKIN TOO THIN from the HONESTY BOX album. The band have previously covered SPITTING COUSINS and BACK IN DURHAM GAOL on past albums…
