On line concert on You Tube
Jez’s second on-line concert that went out live on his Facebook page on July 9th is now available for viewing on his You Tube channel, along with the first concert that he did in June. The hour-long gig from last Thursday features twelve songs, thirteen if you include the medley – CALL FOR THE NORTH COUNTRY, A SMALL COALSONG, CHICK HENDERSON’S MARCH, ANOTHER MAN’S WIFE, GREEK LIGHTNING, VIKINGS, LAST OFTHE WIDOWS, FATHER MALLORY’S DANCE/HIGH PART OF THE TOWN MEDLEY, BAIT UP, FARMER SUN, LONDON DANNY and OLD BONES. A lot of old material was included, thanks to requests that were sent in, and also one new song, FARMER SUN, from his much anticipated new album, due later this year. People from all over the world were watching, as happened last time, and Jez passes on his heartfelt gratitude for everyone’s generosity in contributing to the “pay what you feel” feature. His next on-line gig will be on September 16th, a special presentation for the Oxford Folk Festival… Jez also showed up on Facebook on Saturday morning, the day that was supposed to see the famous Durham Big Meeting taking place. That event was of course cancelled due to lockdown restrictions, so Jez was asked to deliver a short video version of his 1994 song BIG MEETING DAY to mark the occasion (see pic below). There had been talk of The Pitmen Poets playing at this year’s Big Meeting, but that is just another thing that is earmarked as a possibility for next year, though there are no other known plans for future Pitmen Poets shows… The last few remaining September gigs that Jez had on his calendar have now been officially postponed. UK gigs in October and beyond are still in the balance. We’ll keep you informed as to what is decided about those as soon as we know.
