On-line concert report… Other news…

Jez’s latest on-line concert last Sunday attracted people from all over the world yet again. Jez played for over an hour, including a mixture of old and new songs, and focusing especially on his new album “Crazy Pagan” (referred to by Jez at one point as “Crazy Paving”!). The set-list was – TIME RICH, CASH POOR / CURSED BE THE CALLER / HONEYMOON TERRACE / NAMES / THE WRONG BUS / LOUISA’S CHOOSING / SHAKING MONTY / THE EX-PITMEN’S POTHOLING PUBQUIZ TEAM / FARMER SUN / THE SODA MAN / THIS IS NOT MY TRIBE / THE FROZEN ROMAN. Jez revealed that the last song had been recorded for the “Crazy Pagan” album, but left off at the last minute, and that this would be the last time he’d ever be playing it, as recent political changes in the USA had made it obsolete! He also said that he was planning another solo concert in December, concentrating on his Christmas repertoire (“not your usual Christmas songs”, as he put it), and that he’d hoped to be joined by The Bad Pennies for that show, but that didn’t seem feasible infortunately. No date has been set yet for the next show but the whole of last Sunday’s concert can now be seen on Jez’s You Tube channel… The new edition of North East England’s quarterly magazine Folk Roundabout has an extensive, indepth feature on Jez that is worth seeking out, dealing with his past career and looking forward to future plans. Copies can be bought by contacting… Bad Pennies news – Andy May’s new album with his trio is called “Big Boots to Fill” and is available from the Bandcamp website. It’s already earned some enthusiastic reviews… Kate Bramley’s Badapple Theatre has launched a crowdfunder appeal to help finance future projects, and you can find more details, and perhaps contribute too, at
David De La Haye is about to release the results of his “Tracks, Traces and Trails” project, a soundscape and video commission based around recordings of the waterways and coastline of County Durham and Northumberland. Jez has contributed music to the project too, and we’ll have links to it as soon as it is made public…
Jez has done interviews this week with journalist ColinRandall for his Salut! Live website – an in-depth and personal analysis of his work by all accounts, and with Mike Ganley at Swindon FM radio, for broadcast next week. More details on both of these soon.
