Tilston – Lowe return… other news…

Jez is at Chester Folk Festival this coming weekend, playing solo throughout the event, but with a songwriting workshop and a concert slot with Steve Tilston on Sunday. The duo are also at other UK festivals this summer, including Sidmouth, Saltburn, Broadstairs, Whitby (a four piece set as The Sometimers), and Edinburgh Fringe. Jez and Steve will be also playing concerts together in June and July around the UK… Last week’s BBC TV appearance on the Look North programme did indeed include a very brief snippet of young Jez Lowe singing MIKE NEVILLE SAID IT back in 1994. It’s amazing to think the film still exists. The link to the programme on the BBC website did not last long, but may yet show up on You Tube… Thanks to everyone who has sent in set-lists from some of Jez’s recent solo gigs. Among the songs performed recently have been THE BIG FEAR, LATCHKEY LOVER, TEARDROP TWO STEP, YELLOW HAIR, BOBBY SHAFTO, OLD HAMMERHEAD and a real eye-opener, EASY TOWN, available only as a bonus track on the Art Edition of “The Parish Notices” CD… The Fellside Records CD celebrating their anniversary will be out soon, and includes a new song from Jez, one that he wrote for a Badapple Theatre play some years ago. Another Fellside artist, Brian Peters, plays squeezebox on the track, the title of which will be announced soon… We can expect an official announcement too of the Ballads of Child Migration tour, with dates and list of those involved… There are also plans for something special to end the current Radio ballads series on BBC Radio Two, the final part of which, “The Ballad of 1918” will be broadcast in November.
