Towersey festival and news round-up.
August 28, 2012
Jez’s presentation of his Radio Ballads project THE MUSE MACCOLL was a huge hit at Towersey Festival last weekend. The show is developing all the time, with different songs at each performance, and this time the audience were both moved and mesmorised by the whole thing. His mainstage appearance was also was very well received… The Unthanks have used four of Jez’s songs from the Ballad of The Big Ships for their forthcoming Songs from the Shipyards project, which will now also be released as an album, as well as a touring film-documentary with live music… Still no word on exactly which song it is that Jez and Vin Garbutt have collaborated on for Jez’s new compilation CD. Vin plays whistle as well as sings on the track. It is understood that it is NOT the Hartlepool Monkey song, now officially titled THE SIMIAN SON… Jez is at Fylde Festival in Lancashire on Friday and Sedgefield Festival in County Durham on Saturday.
