Year End News
There are still three Christmas Shows to do before the end of the year, at Cramlington in Northumberland next Saturday and two shows at Gateshead Sage on December 29th. We’re told to expect “the usual extras” at these shows as the tour cruises into Tyneside… Jez played at a special memorial concert for Vin Garbutt in Middlesbrough earlier this week, attended by most of Vin’s family and a packed hall full of his fans. Jez played two new songs, though nothing from his new CD! He also joined Pete Davies for an encore of Bob Dylan’s “It takes a lot to laugh, it takes a train to cry”. Plans to include one of Vin’s songs in the encore were put aside, as emotions were getting the better of all concerned, it seems. The whole night was recorded for posterity… Promotion for the new book and CD “The Dillen Doll” will start after the New Year holiday. The huge number of pre-Christmas on-line sales seems like a good omen, and already many readers have expressed their enjoyment of the novel. There’s now talk of some sort of live performance based around the project that may take shape later next year. Meanwhile, there’s a press-release for the project on the media page of this website for those interested… As we mentioned a while ago, Jez has recently contributed a new song to a forthcoming “celebration” CD for Fellside Records. The song, originally written for the Badapple Theatre play “The Carlton Colliers”, is entitled TOWN TALES, and features Jez on guitar and vocals, joined by another former Fellside artist, Brian Peters on melodeon. It should be released in May next year… (Pic shows Jez with Pete Davies at the Vin Garbutt tribute show. From Denise Tearney.
