Norma Waterson Benefit Update

A report from last week’s Norma Waterson benefit concert at Gateshead’s Sage suggests that it was really quite a night – it opened with Jez and Bella Hardy leading everyone through The Waterson’s song COUNTRY LIFE, and then proceeded with a “round-robin” style show, with various members of the cast dueting and jamming through two hours of songs old and new, many with Andy May providing “outstanding piano backing”, before a finale of THREE SCORE AND TEN, sung by Vin Garbutt with Jez on guitar. Jez contributed LONDON DANNY and a rousing JACK COMMON’S ANTHEM, with Vin on guitar, Bella, Sandra Kerr, and Emily Portman’s group providing instrumental backing and Linda Thompson on backing vocals! What’s more, the entire concert was recorded for a proposed CD release – watch this space for more news on that!
