Jez is on the road in the UK in May, including his first festival appearance of the year, at Forgotten Lands in Cumbria on May 24th. Please note that his appearance at Reading Folk Club on May 10th is now a private event, after the organisers requested it. No tickets are available for anyone else. Apologies to the many people who contacted us hoping to attend.
Other festivals for Jez this year include Pig’s Ale in Kent in July, Edinburgh Fringe and Whitby Folk Week in August, Swanage Festival, South Downs Festival Otley Festival and Durham Festival in September, and the Costa Del Folk Festival in Portugal in October (with Steve Tilston).
The Pitmen Poets appeared on Tyne Tees TV in North East England in April, filmed and interviewed while rehearsing for their upcoming UK tour in June/July. They also had an extended feature on Tyne and Wear Local TV, filmed the same day, performing a version of Jez’s song BLACK DIAMONDS. The tour takes in fourteen dates, beginning on June 18th. A new album, recorded live during the last Pitmen Poets tour in 2024, will be released to coincide with this new tour. More details soon. It’s worth noting that some of the group’s earlier albums are now available as downloads from the Bandcamp Website.
In July Jez will be returning to Lewes in East Sussex to the Elephant and Castle Saturday folk club for a day-long songwriting workshop and evening concert. It will be his third workshop at this venue, and tickets will be limited, available from the club’s website soon.
Jez is also back at Edinburgh Festival Fringe on August 15th for another of his “Life Writing” performances, with songs old and new and a delve into his new novel…
Speaking of the new novel, as mentioned here last time, a June publication is still being mooted, and once the date is confirmed we will be announcing the title of the book and how to obtain a copy by mail-order. A hint of the cover design of the new book has just appearaed on Jez’s PATREON page, which is still going strong with exclusive videos, rare recordings and more.
