April 15th 2016 – Radio Ballads concerts

Jez is mid-way through a weeklong series of concerts entitled Songs of the Radio Ballads – a further similarly-themed tour is set for later this year – and as suspected, it’s giving him the chance to feature a different set of songs compared to his usual solo shows. The set seems to be changing from night to night, but included so far have been versions of IF I COULD BUY A BLIGHTY, THE TOWN HALL YARD, THE WALTZER, NAMES, and JOHNNY AND DORANDO, plus THE MILLER’S TALE,  a song about the original Radio Ballads writer, Ewan MacColl. Jez featured this, backed by The Bad Pennies, at the Radio Ballads concert at The Lowry in Manchester in 2011. The tour continues until Sunday… Jez is in Faversham Kent next Wednesday. Please note that next Saturday’s gig at The Spectrum in Willington, County Durham has been cancelled due to problems at the venue… The interview Jez did on SineFM radio last week is currently on-line at their website, via the link we gave last time… The 6-track EP of songs from Badapple Theatre’s “Thankful Village” play is now available at venues on their current tour. We’re not sure if Jez is also carrying them on his own gigs yet. All profits from their sale will go tour the theatre’s own funds.
