Jez and the band are very excited about next Monday’s concert at the prestigious Lowry at Salford Quays in Manchester, which will be centred around Jez’s BBC Radio Ballads presentation, The Muse MacColl. For the first time with the full band (Jez has done solo versions of this show at various venues earlier this year), this concert will feature a selection from the THIRTY-PLUS songs that Jez has written for the award-winning BBC series, including some new songs from next year’s Radio Ballads series, being played for the first time. As an added bonus, there will also be some of Ewan MacColl’s songs from the original series included along the way, with a back-drop of rare visual images connected with the subjects of the songs. Tickets are still available, and you can hear Jez talking about the show, as well as playing some o the songs, on BBC Radio Lancashies folk show The Drift on Friday at 8pm UK time, with a listen again feature via the BBC website after the broadcast.
