BBC Radio play – TWO new Jez Lowe songs

A four-part drama written by Warhorse author Michael Morpurgo, entitled “Alone on a Wide Wide Sea” (based on his novel of the same name) will be broadcast by BBC Radio Two in August. It was scheduled for June but was postponed due to the UK election. The play features two songs by Jez Lowe – ROLLING ATLANTIC and BETWEEN HERE AND HEAVEN. The first one will be sung by Chris While, the second by Jez himself. The play will be included in the daily programme The Jeremy Vine Show (but will be hosted by stand-in presented Venessa Phelps), starting at around 1.30 pm on Monday August 7th, and continuing at the same time over the subsequent three days. It’s not clear if and/or when the songs will be available elsewhere… As some may have noticed, several of Jez’s recent solo gigs have been recorded – shows in Glasgow, Sterling, Westcliffe and Forest of Dene were certainly among them – suggesting that a new live album might be on the cards. This could be an interesting prospect, given that his two previous live CDs,  “Live At The Davy Lamp” in 2000, and “Northern Echoes” in 2008, were both Bad Pennies recordings. There’s never been a totally solo album released before. More news about this as and when… Jez is solo in Darlington, County Durham tonight, and at The Spiders Web in Grimsby on Sunday, and then is joined by The Bad Pennies for Kimpton Festival on July 1st.
