Jez is due to make several radio appearances in the next few weeks to promote his “Dillen Doll” book/CD project, including the folk music shows on BBC Leeds and BBC Shropshire – dates to be confirmed. His first appearance will be on BBC Radio Tees on January 23rd at 2pm on the Bob Fischer Show, where he’ll be talking about how the book was written and playing some songs from the CD. There’s also mention of a nationally-broadcast programme showing interest in a similar approach at some point. Watch this space… Jez has played several solo dates in the last couple of weeks, but as yet hasn’t played any songs from the new album, perhaps underlining the attitude that the CD is purely and simply to accompany the book, rather than be a presentation of new songs. This may change of course. There are NEW songs in the live set however – new original compositions, including a new opening song that has featured on all the recent dates, and a new “topically satirical” song that seems to have grabbed everyone’s attention when it was first included on the recent Bad Pennies Christmas Tour. Both are worth looking out for… Another new cover version is just out, a cover of WAITING FOR THE ALL-CLEAR (from the “Wotcheor!” album, by American singer Tom Raleigh on his new album “Showground.” There’s another new cover of THE BERGEN on the way too from the USA. More news on that soon. (Pic shows Jez at last weekend’s Hartley Memorial Hall concert in Northumberland. The Hartley mining disaster of 1862 is mentioned in Jez’s song LAST OF THE WIDOWS.
