Happy New Year! Thanks for all your support and encouragement over the last twelve months – there’s lots happening in the year ahead, and we hope you enjoy all that Jez has in store for us.
Tomorrow (Thursday Jan 5th), Jez will be featured as presenter on BBC Radio 4’s “Open Country” programme, his THIRD outing in this role, recorded in December. The show is a long-running series that focuses on nature, the countryside and the environment, and in this episode Jez climbs to the summit of Kinder Scout, a “plateaued mountain” in England’s Peak District, site of a “mass-trespass” in 1932 (immortalised in Ewan MacColl’ song “The Manchester Rambler”). He’ll be accompanied by folk-singers Johnny Campbell and Bella Hardy, music-collective Mishra and author Roly Smith.
The programme is repeated on Saturday morning and will then be available on the BBC website.
Jez did a series of interviews for Radio Warrington 1332AM recently, which will be broadcast over the next few weeks, and in which he talks about the writing and background to some of his older songs (including NEW TOWN INCIDENT, BACK IN DURHAM GAOL, GALLOWAYS and NEARER TO NETTLES – all taken from the “Fellside Collection” set. The shows will be available at www.radiowarrington.co.uk, starting this week.
Jez will be doing a live-stream show from Whitby in Yorkshire on January 14th at 8pm, courtesy of Falcon Arts, with a “tip-jar” donation request. The concert can be viewed via the following link – https://www.youtube.com/user/Tulip0852/live
On March 11th, Jez will be doing another all-day song-writing workshop, followed by a concert, at Lewes Saturday Night Club in East Sussex. Booking for this event are now being taken via valmaigoodyear@aol.com
Dates are still being added in May for the tour featuring Jez, Julie Matthews and Bob Fox, titled “In The Footsteps of Ewan MacColl”, centred around the songs from the 2006 BBC Radio Ballads. The final itinerary, around 24 shows altogether, will be available on Jez’s website by the end of this week.

Jez’s first novel “The Dillen Doll” has now sold out of its second printing, and will be unavailable for the foreseeable future, but his other two books, “The Corly Croons” and “Piper’s Lonnen”, along with all of his CDs, are still available via mail order, many at discount or “package” prices, from this website to anywhere in the world.
