There’s a new cover version on the way, from Alistair Anderson’s new band Northlands, who have a version of Jez’s song TAKING ON MEN on their new album, due soon… Jez and the rest of the Pitmen Poets brought Chippenham Festival to a successful close last weekend (see photo), playing their first show in Southern England since their very first concert at London’s King’s Place more than five years ago. As ever, they brought the house down. Three quarters of the group, minus Billy Mitchell, will be at the Northumbrian Miners Picnic on Saturday June 11th – it’s a free afternoon concert… Jez is back in the studio this week recording more songs for the BBC Radio Ballads, and the Ballad of the Great War. A new song called TRENCHES, somewhat unsurprisingly, is among those being recorded… Jez is with The Bad Pennies this coming weekend at the Wirral Folk on the Coast Festival, and then has a series of solo UK dates later this month, including gigs in Croydon, Ely, Byfleet, Beverley Festival and Crail in Scotland.
