Mid-June Updates

Fellside Records have just released the new Fylde Guitars album, “Strings That Nimble Leap”, and it’s quite a collection – two CDs, housed in an elaborate hard-backed book, with around 50 artists contributing. Jez’s track is a new version of his song GULL’S EYE, and it’s in good company, with other tracks by Martin Carthy, Gordon Giltrap, Martin Simpson, Barbara Dickson, Andy Irvine, Fairport Convention and many, many more… Other news from Fellside is that there’s a chance that they will re-issuing some of their Jez Lowe tracks early next year, presumably in some sort of compilation set. Jez did SEVEN albums for them starting with his “Jez Lowe” album in 1980, then following it with “The Old Durham Road” (1983), “Galloways” (1985), “Bad Penny” (1988), “Briefly On The Street” (1990), “Bede Weeps” (1993), and a compilation, “Back Shift” in 1991. “Two A Roue”, with Jake Walton was also a Fellside release in 1986, but was re-released by Tantobie Records in 2001. More news on this when we have it… Note that The Bad Pennies concert at Knaresborough FEVA Festival on August 13th has changed its venue to Henshaw’s Arts Centre, which is 200 meters away from the original venue, The Frazer Theatre… There’s also talk of another tour for the “Ballads of Child Migration” project, sometime next year, for which Jez wrote four songs. Last November’s tour was a huge success, so a second one seems likely at some point… Still no announcement of the title of Jez’s second novel, due in October. Even the pre-publicity for the Sedgefield Bookends Festival, where the book will be launched on October 13th, doesn’t give any details about it. We await with baited breath…
