Jez is back out on the road in the next couple of weeks, with concerts dotted across the UK, including a slew of gigs in and around his native North East England, starting at Newton Aycliffe on Tuesday. He’s also got shows in Durham, Newcastle and Felton in Northumberland coming up soon. His full schedule is on the LIVE DATES page of this site…
One notable show will be at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. Jez has appeared here several times with Steve Tilston in the past, but this year it will be a rare duo performance by Jez and Andy May, celebrated Northumbrian piper and of course, Jez’s long-time cohort in The Bad Pennies. Apart from a brief spot together at the Settle Folk Festival a few years ago, this will be the first time the pair of them have ventured out as a duo in public. And it’s a special occasion too, as it will be the official launch of Jez’s new novel, his third, which is being published in August. Jez and Andy intend to base their show around songs and tunes that form the back-ground to the story in the new book. That’s all the information we can give you at the moment, except to say that sometime Bad Pennies fiddler (and member of off-shoot band The Mile Roses) Kari MacLeod is currently working on the artwork for the cover of the new book. Kari also did the paintings used on the covers of Jez’s other two book, “The Dillen Doll” and “The Corly Croons”…
