Mid-tour catch up with The Pitmen Poets…

The current Pitmen Poets tour is steaming along with sold out audiences at many of the dates – the lads are on good form, and the show itself has many highlights, including a first-half finale of Jez’s BARRY AND THE ANTHRACITES from the new CD. The band asked for requests to be sent in before the tour began, so one-off inclusions from Jez have included LAST OF THE WIDOWS at Alnwick Playhouse (it’s the first tour that hasn’t featured the song on a regular basis) and the full band/re-write of BARE KNUCKLE, which was the title track of the last Pitmen Poets album. The quartet ventures further south in the next couple of weeks – full itinerary of the tour is on the LIVE DATES page of this website. A track from the new CD was played on the BBC Radio Two weekly folk show last week – LONG WALK HOME, which is also the song with which the band ends each concert every night.

All mail-order copies of Jez’s new novel, “The Keeker Seam” have now been mailed out, and any future orders will be sent out on the day of receiving orders via this website, and they’ll all be signed by Jez too of course. The book is also available via Amazon.
The list of downloadable tracks that accompany the book will gradually be added to, we’re told, with other recorded versions of suitable songs ready for inclusion before the end of May.
The new book is also for sale at shows on the current Pitmen Poets tour, though copies of the other three novels, “The Dillen Doll”, “The Corly Croons” and “Piper’s Lonnen” are not. Jez will be selling them all at future solo tours and at festivals throughout the summer.

June sees the start of yet another tour, The New Radio Ballads show, “In The Footsteps of Ewan MacColl”, featuring Jez, Bob Fox and Julie Matthews. This will be quite an extensive tour, and will be a repeat (with some revisions) of the show that the trio did last year to such great acclaim.
