News Round-up for mid-July

Tomorrow is Jez’s birthday!
This week he’ll be doing an hour-long video performance for the Saltburn Festival, to be shown as part of their on-line presentation in mid-August. The actual festival, at which Jez was booked to appear, has been postponed for another year…
We can expect a short video from Jez and Steve Tilston within the next few weeks too. The pair of them are due to start rehearsing for some September shows soon, and they’ll likely have a camera rolling as they do so…
Jez is off to Devon on August 1st to appear as part of “A Celebration of Sidmouth”, a series of events in lieu of the annual festival, which has also been cancelled for this year…
The Bad Pennies will be playing together next month too, for the first time since their Christmas shows in 2019! They are at the fEVA Festival in Knaresborough, Yorkshire on August 13th, all being well.
Recent additions to Jez’s PATREON page include a look at the previously unpublished first-draft of the lyrics to THE PITMEN POETS, the song that gave Jez his third nomination for a BBC Folk Awards in 2016. There’s also a rare video of The Pitmen Poets (the band) performing Jez’s song THE JUDAS BUS at a show on their 2019 tour, and to top it off, the previously unreleased demo-recording of Jez’s song ARTHUR MY DEAR, written for the BBC programme “The Ballad of the Miners Strike” in 2010.
