Jez is hopefully making a return to actual live concerts this coming Friday, with a show at Wessex Acoustic in Shaftesbury, though the Covid restrictions in the UK still seem somewhat unpredictable. His final (for now) on-line concert at http://www.facebook.com/jez.lowe1 will take place on Sunday May 23rd at 8pm. Jez is also hoping to do an on-line gig with Steve Tilston in July (watch out for more details about that one soon), and the pair of them also hope to be playing real live shows in September, including the South Coast Festival in Bognor.
Other UK festivals where Jez will be appearing LIVE include Whitby Moor and Coast in June, Bromsgrove in July, Sidmouth in August, and Llanwddyn in September, plus an on-line appearance at Wirral Folk Festival on June 5th.
Jez has just been asked to contribute his thoughts (in writing) to a special Bob Dylan birthday blog for the Salut Live website. Watch out for that next week.
Meanwhile in his regular weekly column for The Northern Echo newspaper, Jez has sent 80th birthday greetings to another hero, Martin Carthy. Jez has collaborated with Martin several times over the years, including for THe BBC Radio Ballads and on the 1985 album, “The Penguin Book of Folk Songs”. Tracks from the latter were also included in last year’s Fellside Collection boxset.
