Jez’s sold-out 90 minute presentation at last week’s Sidmouth Folk Festival was the first in several promotional appearances for his new novel “Piper’s Lonnen”. The next one will be at Saltburn Folk Festival on August 14th, with a special “Meet the Writer” session. Then there are three gigs coming up, billed as “launch nights”, featuring Jez and Andy May (pictured below) playing songs and tunes that appear in the book (as featured on the 6-track CD that accompanies the book).These gigs are at Edinburgh Festival Fringe (August 24th), Kirkaldy Folk Club (August 25th) and a special “local” show at Gosforth Civic Theatre in Newcastle on September 15th Tickets for all of these shows are on sale now…
Jez plays at Saltburn Festival solo next weekend, and then is joined by The Bad Pennies at Whitby Festival on August 20th…
The new album from The Pitmen Poets, recorded to coincide with their extensive UK tour that starts in October, is now available from their website https://thepitmenpoets.co.uk/listen-buy and contains two of Jez’s songs, the title track BARE KNUCKLE and a new song that Jez has been featuring on his recent solo gigs called THE CHECK-OUT QUEUE. Jez also sings lead on a song by County Durham songwriter Jock Purdom called THE JOE HILL BLUES (that was also part of The Broonzies’ live set when they last toured in 2017). The tour starts at Derby Folk festival on October 1st and runs through to the middle of November…
