Jez is currently at work on recording tracks for the new BBC Radio Ballads, and three titles have so far come up – THE WRONG BUS, which will be sung by Roy Bailey, LA BELLE EPOQUE, to be sung by Bob Fox and THE LONG BALLON, to be sung by Jez himself. The middle one of these features a verse in French, translated by Jez’s pal Flossie malavialle, we’re told. The internal BBC promo film for their current World War One programme schedule apparently features footage of Jez himself singing THE WRONG BUS, shot last year at Media Centre in Salford… The Bad Pennies’ line-up for next weekend’s Chester Festival will be augmented by fiddler Kari MacLeod and drummer Martin Douglas, both of whom have played with the band in the past of course. It’s the only Big Bad Pennies appearance this summer… News on the new Jez Lowe album is that there’s NO news! Jez has been on the road here in the UK for the last ten days, and no further sessions are scheduled at this point, but as proof that this is all not a figment of our imagination, we’re are posting a picture of Jez in the studio with Maggie Holland at the first sessions last month.
