The Canadian concerts that follow on from the upcoming Australian tour are Jez’s first solo gigs there for some time – he last played in Canada with James Keelaghan and Archie Fisher on the Men At Words tour. The trip starts with a show at The Rogue Folk Club in Vancouver (at St. James Hall) on October 19th, which was in fact the last date to be added to the tour. There are seven shows in all, including the prestigious Hugh’s Room in Toronto on October 27th… Meanwhile in Australia, the interview that Jez did recently for Rhythms Magazine is just about to hit the stands. The Australian tour starts on September 23rd at the Kiama Sea Festival in New South Wales… Jez’s new duo CD with Steve Tilston will be out by the time he gets back from his travels in early November. Watch this space on how to pre-order the album. The duo are at Oldham Playhouse tomorrow night (Friday)… A bunch of people have asked about the “new version” of Jez’s well-known song BLACK DIAMONDS that he’s been performing lately, featuring an entire set of new lyrics. These were added to the song for the recent Pitmen Poets tour, with a verse sung by each member of the group, and since then Jez has occasionally dropped into this version, usually when playing with The Bad Pennies. For those who asked, the new lyrics haven’t been published anywhere as yet. Keep an eye on the LYRICS page of this site in case they suddenly show up… Jez is solo at Bromyard Festival on Saturday and at The Poppy Folk Club in Nottingham on Sunday. Then he’s at Edinburgh Folk Club next Wednesday, which is at a new venue – see the details on the gig page of this site.
